Me as Claire Fraser from Outlander

November 14, 2017

This was actually my Halloween costume from last year.  I’m dressed as Claire Randall Fraser from Outlander, in an 18th century robe de anglaise.  I wore it to a Halloween party that turned out to be a surprise wedding, and I had too much fun to get good pictures of the dress.  So, this post… Read More Me as Claire Fraser from Outlander

James Fraser, an 18th Century Gentleman

November 19, 2016

We didn’t get pictures at the party– too busy having fun– so the quality isn’t great. As already discussed in my 18th century underwear post, and my post about my cosplay of Claire Fraser’s red dress, my approach to these costumes was to use patterns (from Reconstructing History) that are designed to reproduce 18th… Read More James Fraser, an 18th Century Gentleman

18th Century Undergarments!

October 18, 2016

In case you are wondering why on earth I am sewing 18th century underwear, let me give a bit of backstory.  I love making costumes (see my last Halloween costume), and I have done a bit of cosplay in the past.  I have also thought that it might be fun to get into historical costuming,… Read More 18th Century Undergarments!

About Me

I am a weaver who longs to make beautiful and useful things. I love that weaving is a very precise craft that relies on a fair amount of math. I love the motion and rhythm of winding a warp and throwing a shuttle. I love starting with a draft and seeing the design I saw in my mind become a tangible piece of cloth. My love for the my craft goes into everything that I make.

In addition to weaving, I also sew, spin, knit, and dye– almost anything fiber related!
